Assessment information

Please note that completion of the 'Application to study' form does not enter you to sit for assessments. You will also need to complete the 'Assessment entry form' to register for examinations and assignments.

Assessment Entry Closing Dates:

  written applications online applications
June 2008 4 April 2008 11 April 2008

Please note: no late assessment entries can be accepted.

Examinations are normally run by our accredited study centres. However, there are occasions when a study centre may not be available as an examination centre. CAM will offer an alternative venue for examinations, but cannot guarantee a local centre will be available. Candidates concerned must meet any additional travelling expenses.

Candidates who wish to take their exams outside the UK, and who cannot attend one of our examination centres, would need to contact us in advance of the examination deadline. Wherever possible we will make arrangements for them to sit the examinations in their country of residence. As these centres are normally arranged for one student, the student will be responsible for all fees paid direct to the centre.

Main Online Booking Options (if your study centre does not host exams)
London - City of London College
Manchester - The University of Manchester
Cambridge - Churchill College
Bristol - University of Bristol (Student Union)
Newcastle - Turner Hall

Payments

Fees for assessments are payable separately from the cost of CIM membership (unless you have selected one of the package pricing options). Full details of these fees are available in the 'Get qualified' booklet.

To enter for assessments, you must ensure that your studying membership is current and that all relevant fees have been paid, otherwise you may not receive your results.

Assignments

Your study centre is responsible for issuing assignment briefs and collecting your assignment for submission to CIM. Assignments are marked by CIM, but your submission will still be collected and sent to CIM by the study centre. Please ensure that you keep a copy of all your assignments.

Assignment results will be released at the same time as the examination results.

The closing dates for submission of assignments are set by your study centre. Please check with your tutor for confirmation of assignment deadlines.

Photographic identification

All students sitting CAM examinations will be required to provide photographic identification to the invigilator along with a current CIM membership card. Photographic ID can be in the form of a driving licence or national ID card.

All those taking CAM assignments will be required to sign a Candidate Declaration and have this counter-signed by their tutor. It is also necessary for these students to have a current membership card.

Special consideration during CIM exams

CIM offers a service for those who require additional support during their examinations. Each request will be assessed on an individual basis and all applications must be made in writing to CIM prior to the assessment entry closing date for the relevant session. Each request must be supported by medical evidence.

For further advice, please email specialconsideration@cim.co.uk

Special requirements when undertaking assignments or during study must be agreed and organised with your study centre. You may be required to pay for any additional costs incurred by CIM when accommodating such requirements.

International centres

If you are sitting examinations outside the UK, you may be required to pay local fees to the authority conducting them. If you are not able to attend then please advise the centre in advance to avoid payment of the local fee.
